Frequently Asked Questions

For your first lesson, please bring the following:

• Your provisional driving licence (both parts if you have an old-style paper licence)
• Any glasses or contact lenses you need for driving
• Comfortable, flat-soled shoes suitable for driving

You do not need to bring anything else — your instructor will provide everything required for the lesson.

The DVSA recommends an average of 45 hours of professional tuition combined with 22 hours of private practice. However, everyone learns at a different pace — some learners are ready sooner, others may need more time.

Your instructor will assess your progress and let you know when they feel you are ready to sit the practical test.

We offer 1.5-hour and 2-hour lessons to suit your schedule and budget. Longer lessons are more productive as they give you more time to practise manoeuvres and build confidence without the time feeling rushed.

Our instructors cover all areas across Sheffield. When booking, you will be matched with the nearest available instructor to your home or preferred pickup location.

Manual lessons teach you to drive a car with a clutch and gearstick. Passing in a manual means you can drive both manual and automatic cars. Automatic lessons are often easier and quicker to learn, but your licence will restrict you to automatic vehicles only.

We offer both manual and automatic tuition — speak to your instructor if you are unsure which is right for you.

Payment is made directly to your instructor via bank transfer or cash. Your instructor will provide their payment details when your lesson is confirmed.

Block booking discounts may be available — ask your instructor for details.

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged at the full lesson rate at the instructor's discretion.

To cancel or reschedule, simply contact your instructor directly.

Yes! We offer intensive and semi-intensive driving courses in Sheffield. These are ideal if you need to pass quickly for work or a holiday. Intensive courses pack many hours of tuition into a short period and can be very effective for learners who can commit to concentrated practice.

All of our instructors are fully DVSA-approved Driving Instructors (ADIs). They hold a valid ADI badge, which is regularly renewed and checked. You can ask to see your instructor's badge at any time — a genuine ADI will always be happy to show it.
