How Our Intensive Courses Work

There is no fixed package. The number of hours you need depends on your previous driving experience and your current level of ability. The DVSA recommends an average of 45 hours of professional tuition for learners with no prior experience, though this varies from person to person.

Before your course begins, your instructor will assess your starting point and help you plan the right number of hours to get you to test standard. All hours are agreed and booked in advance, and your instructor will arrange their diary to accommodate your course.

Scheduling options:

• Intensive — complete your hours over 1–2 consecutive weeks for maximum immersion
• Semi-intensive — spread your hours over a longer period to suit your work or family commitments
• The schedule is agreed between you and your instructor before the course begins

Note: passing your test in an automatic vehicle means your licence will be restricted to automatic vehicles only. A manual licence covers both.

No. Complete beginners are welcome. The number of hours required will be based on your starting level and agreed with your instructor before the course begins.

Can I book my driving test at the same time?
Yes. Once your instructor is confident you are approaching test standard, they will advise you to book your practical test through the DVSA. You can book your test at gov.uk/book-driving-test.

What if I’m not test-ready by the end of my booked hours?
Your instructor will give you an honest assessment throughout your course. If additional hours are needed before your test, these can be booked and agreed separately.
